hello there, i'm chanel!

photography is a passion. this passion started as a child. my dad was always holding a camera, always capturing and never to be captured. i feel as i have grown, i followed in his footsteps. i was teaching high school special education until my first son was born, now i am at home with him and photography has become my career. we just had our second son. my family includes my husband, my sons, and my two dogs- teddy, a 120lb bernese mountain dog, and tank, a 5lb yorkie. my career in photography began with pets and has since evolved into newborns, children, families, maternity, holiday, senior pictures, etc.

HOME
i am a minnesota girl born and raised. i grew up in the southern suburbs and went to my cabin every weekend of my childhood. the lake life is where it's at. you only know, if you know, and if you don't, you should make an effort to find out. now i live in south minneapolis. i love it here because we have the ability to walk or bike the lakes and get to anything we could need without getting in a car.
FAMILY
i love my family. after getting married to my husband, my family started to grow. we started with a yorkie named tank and a bernese mountain dog named theodore aka teddy. then we added our two sons. we hope to keep growing and growing. i love my amazing family.
INTERESTS
other than photography, i love interior design. most of all i love doing home and landscaping renovations. anything involved- tiling, framing, sheet rocking, painting, gardening, patios, etc. my college and masters degree is in elementary education and k-12 special education. i worked in this field for five years before taking a break to stay home with my first born. i would say being a stay at home mom is an interest of mine and could see myself doing daycare at some point until returning to teach. working out and coaching are other interests of mine. i was a college track athlete and competed in the heptathlon. when i was teaching high school, i also coached girls track and field. lastly, i love cooking and hosting. my friend said "i bet chanel constantly has "be our guest" repeating in her head." makes sense because disney radio is always playing at our house.
